Growing Eyes

Care you can count on, from the first exam.

A school vision screening checks whether a child can read a chart across a room. It does not check focusing, eye teaming, or eye health — and a child will never tell you their vision is different, because they have nothing to compare it to.

Growing Eyes is our pediatric care: first exams from around age four, a full checkup by age five — especially before school starts — and myopia management for kids whose prescription is climbing every year.

Why it matters

40–60%

Reduction in how fast childhood nearsightedness progresses, reported across myopia-control studies, compared with standard single-vision glasses. A lower adult prescription means lower lifetime risk of retinal disease.

Retinal imaging

See the back of the eye. $19 right now.

Retinal imaging is $19 right now — a welcome as the practice changes hands. It shows us the health of the retina, usually without dilating drops, and we want every patient to experience it.

Why families stay

Care you can count on.

You see the doctor

Not a handoff between four people. The doctor does your exam, explains what they found, and answers the question you actually came in with.

Straight answers

We will tell you when you do not need something. That includes new glasses, a procedure, or a product on the shelf.

Here since 1996

Independent, local, and still here. We see grandparents, parents and kids from the same families.

Common questions

Where is Fairview Eyecare located?
Fairview Eyecare is at 1546 E Stacy Rd #100, Allen, TX 75002, on the Stacy Road corridor serving Fairview, Allen, Lucas, and Lovejoy.
How often should I have an eye exam?
Have a child seen for a comprehensive eye exam by age 5, especially before they start school. We begin seeing kids around age 4, then yearly through the school years. Adults should be seen every year or two, and sooner with diabetes, glaucoma, or a changing prescription.
Do you see children?
Yes. Pediatric eye exams are a focus of the practice — first exams, first glasses, and myopia management for children whose prescription is changing quickly. We see kids from Fairview, Allen, Lucas, Lovejoy, and McKinney, and we schedule after school when we can.
How long does an eye exam take?
Plan on about 45 minutes for a comprehensive exam, and a little longer if you are being fitted for contact lenses or glasses.
Will my eyes be dilated?
Not always. Retinal imaging lets us see the back of the eye without drops in most cases, and it is $19 right now — a welcome as the practice changes hands. We recommend it and want every patient to experience it. If dilation is still needed we will tell you first, so bring sunglasses.
